Education Matrix
EdMatrix is a four layer meta framework created by Brandt Redd in September 2011 to describe the web of technical standards and design needs to support an education technology infrastructure. The framework recognizes that data interoperability requires multiple layers of standards supporting a Solution stack and that various standards serve different purposes. Education technology relies on a web of standards and structures that allow for the education technology to exist. . In EdMatrix, the layers are:
# Data Dictionary (and data vocabulary) Standards
# ) Standards
# Serialization Standards
# Protocol Standards (communications protocols and interface methods shared between components of a distributed system)
Redd later developed the EdMatrix.org website as a public resource to show where the various standards fit by layer in the solution stack.
