DropTask

DropTask is a free web based task and project management application that offers a visual approach towards managing daily workloads.

Within each DropTask project, tasks and to dos are represented by colourful free-floating circles on a white canvas. These task circles can then be placed into larger group circles (via drag and drop), for easy categorisation. Users are able to invite friends, family and work colleagues to collaborate together, where projects can be planned, tasks can be delegated, and performances can be monitored.

DropTask offers a free version of its service to all of its users. A more advanced paid-for version was launched in March 2014, which unlocks a series of additional premium features known as DropTask PRO.

Features

DropTask allows users to create individual tasks and to dos which can be managed through a series of attributes. These attributes are visually represented on each task using various ICONS and imagery.

Users are able to update the status of a task (in ProgresS, paused, or completed), indicate its priority (very high, high, or none), and resize each task circle according to the effort that’s required to complete it.

In addition to this, users are able to set due dates, attach files, add comments, add tags and create subtasks amongst various other task features.

All of the projects can be viewed via a visual group view, a list view, or an activity view which logs the entire history of the project from creation through to completion.

DropTask is also supported by Google integration, and integrates with Google Tasks, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, Google Drive and Gmail. DropTask can also be installed by businesses and organisations from the Google Apps Marketplace where it was named the No.1 top installed Productivity App in May 2014.

Release

DropTask was launched in February 2013, and soon attracted the attention of the media on a global scale. Having been described by a CBS News reporter as ‘the most unique twist on task management I’ve ever seen’ in 2013, DropTask has continued to receive extensive coverage from software and industry professionals from publications including Lifehacker, TechCrunch, PCWorld and CNET Japan.

Company

Think Productivity, the organisation behind DropTask, was set up in 2011 by CEO Chris Griffiths.

Based in Cardiff, UK, the company is backed by OpenGenius Ltd, who through their ThinkBuzan brand, are world leaders in creative thinking and creators behind iMindMap.

Platforms

DropTask is compatible across all modern web browsers, with accompanying iOS apps for the iPhone and iPad which exclusively offer offline capability. The official Android app is currently in development, and is due to be released in the coming months.

In May 2014, DropTask invited their PRO users to join the official Beta Testing Program for its upcoming Android App.
