Directed Machines is an American robotics company based in Seattle, Washington. It develops autonomous electric land management robots for agricultural, renewable energy, and vegetation management applications, including the Land Care Robot (LCR).

History

Directed Machines developed the Land Care Robot as an autonomous electric vehicle for outdoor land-management tasks. The modular platform can be fitted with different implements for tasks such as mowing and towing and can operate under operator control or autonomously. The LCR uses battery-electric power and incorporates solar-assisted charging. It supports different attachments for land management applications and is designed to operate during daytime and nighttime conditions and in adverse weather.

The company also developed software for remotely monitoring and managing its autonomous vehicles. Applications for the system include agriculture, renewable energy facilities, roadside vegetation management, and infrastructure maintenance. The North DAKOTA Department Of Transportation identified Directed Machines among companies developing autonomous mowing technologies for transportation rights-of-way and maintenance operations.

Published specifications for the LCR include a peak electric drive output of approximately 45 kW (60 hp), a towing capacity of up to 2,700 kilograms, lithium-ion battery storage options, dual camera systems, GPS navigation capabilities, and wireless connectivity for monitoring and control.
