Dinesh Kalaiselvan

Dinesh Kalaiselvan (born 12 February 1991) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer, and actor who works primarily in the Tamil film industry. He made his directorial debut with the 2023 Tamil-language film Raakathan.

Dinesh Kalaiselvan was born in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India, on 12 February 1991. From a young age, he showed a strong interest in storytelling and cinema. He went on to pursue a career in filmmaking, focusing on socially relevant and realistic narratives.

Dinesh began his career in the Tamil film industry with Raakathan(2023), a film he wrote, directed, and acted in. The movie starred Riyaz Khan, Vamsi Krishna, Gayathiri Rema, and Nizhalkal Ravi. It was produced under his own banner, Marutham Productions.

Raakathan. was inspired by true incidents involving his close friends and addressed rural issues and sensitive social themes. It received a limited theatrical release and garnered regional media attention for its realistic and grounded portrayal of village life.

Following the release of Raakathan, Dinesh Kalaiselvan announced that he is working on new projects under Marutham Productions, continuing his vision of storytelling centered on rural India and social issues.

Dinesh Kalaiselvan’s filmmaking style is characterized by gritty realism, psychological depth, and a willingness to explore taboo or underrepresented topics. His works aim to shed light on the human condition, often weaving emotional arcs with suspense and social awareness.
