Dilan Sirwan

Dilan Sirwan (born 12 December 1998) is a Kurdish journalist and Editor-in-Chief and reporter based in Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of The New Region, a digital news outlet covering political, economic, and social developments in Iraq and the wider Middle East. Dilan previously worked as a reporter for Rudaw English, where he covered topics such as regional politics, gender-based issues, and LGBTQ+ rights. He has also contributed to platforms such as Aljeebal Media, and appears as a presenter on AVA Media.
Early life and education
Sirwan was born on 12 December 1998, in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq . He studied at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani AUIS, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in International Studies with a minor in Law and Economics.
Career
Sirwan began his journalism career at Rudaw Media Network, where he published a number of analytical and investigative reports. His articles focused on internal Kurdish politics, the Turkish military presence in Iraq, and socioeconomic developments.
He also wrote extensively for The New Region, covering issues such as the effects of economic crisis in the Kurdistan Region, corruption, and civil unrest. His work has also appeared in The New Arab and Rudaw Media Newtwork and includes co-authored reports with journalist Julian Bechocha.
