Dia DiCristino

Dia Josette Isidore DiCristino (born July 26th, 1980)is an Italian American Jazz singer who has recorded various Albums including After the Storm.

Biography

Early Life

DiCristino was born in Media, Pennsylvania to parents of Italian descent. Her grandparents came from Montelapiano, Abruzzo in Italy. At age 3 her family moved to South Philadelphia where she was raised in the Italian culture. She attended high school at the Girard Academic Music Program on 22nd Ritner Streets in Philadelphia. DiCristino was involved in a multitude of choirs and vocal ensembles.

Career

DiCristino first became known vocally by cantoring around the Philadelphia area. In 1998,1999,2000 and 2001, she sung live on local radio stations every Christmas season. She was head cantor at her college, Immaculata University, from 1998 to 2001.In 2004 DiCristino released her first album entitled, Five Songs. In 2007 she recorded her debut Jazz album, After the Storm, and it hit number 20 on theAll AbOUT Jazz chart in September 2007.

Personal Life

DiCristino currently resides in both the UK and the US with her dog Figaro, frequently traveling between New York City and London. Her health problems became international news in 2003 because of an arachnoid cyst on the brain that caused many operations.
