Dhani Matang Dev

Lord Dhani Matang Dev established Barmati Panth in the community of Maheshwari Meghwar in the 10th century AD. His date of birth in 887 AD was discussed by Mamaidev in his sacred vedas. He was born on the banks of the holy river Ganges in Patana city of Bihar state of India, the son of Brahmin father Matrarakh Rishi and mother Jashdedevi.The Matra rakh Rishi was son-in-law of famous historical Gautam Rishi,and Jashde devi was the daughter of Gautam Rishi. There were two son of Matra Rishi,one was Thakaro and other was Matang.
At a young age, Matang Dev left home and prayed Lord ShiVa at Achareshwar Ling in Arunachal Pradesh. After 12 years of tapasya, he enlightened and preached the religious knowledge in the various areas of India, China, Nepal and Kamrup Desh (now Assam) etc.
He travelled to Palitana, Gujarat, via China, Nepal, Assam, Bihar and Ujjain. He saw the situation and status of Meghwar who were among untouchables shudra. He lived his whole life with Meghwar and established Barmati Panth at Kadamgiri Hill Palitana Bhavnagar District of Gujarat. which is also known as Karumbho Dungar. Later on, he became Dharma Guru of Maheshwari Meghwar and spread Barmati Dharma among Saurashtra, Kutchh, Sindh etc.
When Matang was going to the residence place of Sinbharia Meghwar, his brother Thakro warn Matang to not go that way where untouchable Sinbharia are residing as they are lower caste peoples, are untouchable for Brahmins. Dhani Matang Dev neglected the warning of brother Thakaro and he gone to residence ( Sinbhariye je vas) of poor Sinbharia Meghwar, Matangdev experienced human suffering of Sinbharia Meghwar, finally he decided to serve for welfare of poor Sinbharia Meghwar. He formulated Ancient BARMATI PATH and Religious at Kadamgiri Hill which is also known as Karumbho Dungar of Palitana city of Gujarat. He had done Narvedh Yagna at Kadamgiri Hill and more than 9 crores followers were of Matangdev"s BARMATI Panth. He was Pioneer of Ancient BARMATI Panth.
Matangeshwar Shiva Matangdev temple is located in world famous UNESCO world heritage site Khajuraho of MP State of India. The King of Chandra dynasty King Chandra dev was the devotee of shri Matang Dev and built world famous Matangeshwar Temple in Khajuraho, Nirvana Destination MATANGDEV is Shenithar SINDH Pakistan, he sacrificed his life along with Soomara warrior King ABADO KHAIYANI at Shenithar SINDH State of Pakistan, Dhani Matangdev fought war of dharma with King of Gujarat king Bhimsingh Chavda and king Punishing Gohil of Gohil dynasty of Gujarat, then Dhani Matang Dev married to Shekhde Devi a Daughter of King Punishing Gohil of Gujarat,Bhavnagar. Finally Dhani Matang married with the Daughter of Anand Suidiya Sinbharia Meghwar.
During his life, he won many wars. He died with the King of Kutch in the war with Haiderkhan Pasa which was caused by a misunderstanding between him and his son Lurangdev on the preaching of Barmati Dharma to Meghwar or Kshatriya.

Maheshwari meghwar people strongly believe that Lord Dhani Matang Dev was the incarnation of Lord Shiva and that he came to protect their people and established The Dharma for the Meghwar community.
