Dew Tour 2005

The 2005 Dew Tour was the inaugural season of the Dew Tour, a five-stop action sports tour consisting of BMX, Motocross, and Skateboard. There were five major, multi-discipline events with a cumulative points system, a $2.5 million competitive purse - the largest in action sports - and an additional $1 million bonus pool based upon year-end standings.

With stops in Louisville, Ky.; Denver, Colo.; Portland, Ore.; San Jose, Calif. and Orlando, Fla., the 2005 Dew Tour ran from June through October, crowning six Dew Cup champions at Season's End.

Results

Results below are based on totals added up for the entire year. Top five for each category shown only.

Based on points accumulated throughout the year, Ryan Sheckler was awarded the title of 2005 Dew Tour Athlete of the Year. At 15 years old, he is the youngest competitor to claim such an honor in the history of the Dew Tour.

BMX: Dirt

In the first-ever Dew Tour event, Corey Bohan took home top honors, establishing himself as a consistent threat on the Tour. But with back-to-back-to-back wins at the Right Guard Open, the Vans Invitational and the Toyota Challenge, Ryan Guettler sat atop the season-long leader board with one event left on the 2005 Dew Tour. With only Bohan standing in his way, Guettler took second place in Orlando to claim the year-end title and the coveted Dew Cup.

BMX: Park

Guettler continued his domination of the 2005 Dew Tour with BMX park wins at each of the first two stops. Despite victories by BMX legends Ryan Nyquist and Dave Mirra, Guettler's status as the man to beat stood firm going into the PlayStation Pro. Scotty Cranmer's win at the final stop of the 2005 Tour challenged Guettler, but was not enough to unseat him. With 375 points, Guettler claimed his second Dew Cup of the year, becoming the only person in the history of the Dew Tour to do so.

BMX: Vert

After missing the first Dew Tour event of the 2005 season, Jamie Bestwick dominated the competition, winning each of the final four stops. Kevin Robinson, who won the first event, used a third-place showing at the PlayStation Pro to close out the year in second place in the overall standings.

Freestyle Motocross

With wins at the Right Guard Open and the Vans Invitational, Kenny Bartram fell off the points lead with a disappointing finish at the Toyota Challenge. Jeremy Stenberg, fresh off the first-place showing at the Toyota Challenge, overtook Bartram. With 313 points for Stenberg and 300 points for Bartram, it all came down to Orlando. Bartram won the event, taking home the Dew Cup with the victory.

Skateboard: Park

With back-to-back wins at the first two events of the 2005 Dew Tour, Ryan Sheckler cruised to his first Dew Cup with relative ease. Despite wins by Greg Lutzka (Vans Invitational) and Jereme Rogers (PlayStation Pro), Sheckler wrapped up his year-end title before the season had concluded.

Skateboard: Vert

After Shaun White took home top honors at the first stop of the Tour, Bucky Lasek claimed first place at the following two events. However, Pierre-Luc Gagnon stormed onto the scene in the second half of the season, winning the Toyota Challenge and the PlayStation Pro. The race for the Dew Cup came down to the wire, with Lasek edging PLG by just two points to claim top honors in skate vert.
