Devil's Weed

The term "devil's [...]" originated from the Spanish Inquisition in which they used the term to denounce tobacco. One of Christopher Columbus's sailors, Rodrigo de Jerez (or Xerez), was credited to be the first old world inhabitant to discover tobacco. He brought the habit of smoking it like the Native Americans back to Spain where it was met with interest and fury alike. Some of his countrymen at first seeing the smoke emanating from his mouth and nose thought that his soul was escaping his body. The Spanish Inquisition jailed him for the use of the "devil's [...]."

Devil's [...] is a registered cigar brand owned and distributed by Molina Cigar Company. The brand was created in May 2007 to commemorate the 515th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's discovery of the New World and its native inhabitant, tobacco, which occurred in October 1492.

Molina Cigar Company, founded by Luis Molina, has taken the present-day's inquisition against tobacco head-first by creating its first cigar brand known as Devil's [...] and honoring the plant, the handmade cigar and all those who enjoy the passion of the leaf.
