David Rickhuss
David Rickhuss (born September 1971, Wolverhmapton, West Midlands) is an English songwriter, Modern 'Brit' artist and charity supporter.
David Rickhuss started out with unsuccessful bands after school before starting Europop boyband The Joy Fantastic in Birmingham, England in 1989.
Unsuccessful in Britain, Rickhuss and the other four member, Mark Sane, Jolly, Gary F and Black Simon. Travelled the south of France playing gigs. The Band changed its name to La Joy Fontastic.
After signing to Monaco TV (an early version of MTV for the south of France) they had chart success in Portugal, Spain, France and Sweden with Baby Believe me, Who do you and Electric you. An album was planned but never appeared after unsuccessfully gaining a record deal for the UK.
In 1992 David sold the band to other members and returned to the UK soon after to a corporate job in telecommunications. La Joy Fontastic survived for four more years as session musicians playing on records for some of the best known 90's bands.
David Rickhuss appeared again in 2003 as a modern abstract artist. In Blue dramatic, almost angry paintings on large canvas his art sold well in Japan, America and Egypt. After only a year in the spotlight again, he disappeared just before British galleries started asking for his work.
