David Race
David Race is an American stand-up comedian, podcast host, and former radio personality.
Race was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised on Long Island, by his adoptive parents Robert and Judith.
Career
After high school, Race went to broadcasting school in New York City. Shortly after starting broadcasting school, Race secured an internship on The Howard Stern Show, at WXRK in New York. Race appeared on the Stern show throughout most of 1987, as "Dave the Intern". Several incidents involving Race are described in the book Howard Stern A to Z by Luigi Lucaire. Race often co-hosted the "Best of Stern" broadcasts airing on WXRK in New York, and WYSP in Philadelphia, during Howard Stern's vacations.
Later, Race took his first job as a disc jockey, at WRCN on Long Island. Subsequently he held disc jockey positions at WBAB on Long Island, among others. At WBAB, Race's nightly radio show followed the show done by Opie, who would ultimately leave WBAB, and go on to success as half of the Opie and Anthony radio show.
Race's last full-time on-air radio job as a disc jockey was at WMMR in Philadelphia in the late 1990's. After leaving WMMR, Race began performing stand-up comedy. After several years of performing stand-up comedy in Philadelphia, Race relocated to Los Angeles.
Race has appeared in comedy sketches on on ABC-TV. His stand-up comedy has been broadcast on the Sirius/XM Raw Dog comedy channel in the U.S. and Canada. Race has appeared in several stand-up comedy festivals. He has made frequent appearances performing stand-up comedy at the Hollywood Improv in Los Angeles.
In 2008, David Race created and hosted an online spoof celebrity news show, called "Celebrity Eulogy".
In 2014, Race began hosting the podcast, "Comedians Talking About Bigfoot". In 2015, Race signed a television development deal stemming from this podcast.
In 2018, Race created and began hosting a podcast combining paranormal subjects with comedy and celebrities, called "Monstrosity with David Race". Celebrity guests on Monstrosity have included Matt Moneymaker from the Animal Planet TV show "Finding Bigfoot", Christopher Knight from the Brady Bunch, and comedian Brody Stevens in one of the last interviews he did before his death in 2019.
