General Biography
Born to Oliver and Nadjy Williams, dedicated Christians, Daniel Williams grew up a traditional Southern Baptist in Jacksonville, Florida and was licensed as a minister at Arlington Baptist Church in Jacksonville (1973) and ordained by Beaches Chapel Christian Church, Neptune Beach, Florida (1978). Dr Williams was consecrated a bishop into apostolic succession by the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (1999).
Daniel and his wife Sharon spent the beginning years of their marriage in a variety of ministries that included “Crossroads,” a coffeehouse ministry to hippies and bikers, and Spirit of Life Ministries, a live-in rehabilitation ministry with over 120 singles and families living in Christian Community in the inner city, and as a staff minister of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
In 1981, Daniel and Sharon founded Calvary International, an organization which trains and sends short-term and long-term missionaries into a variety of projects and residential missionary work around the globe. Calvary International has grown to be a highly regarded worldwide mission organization that has trained thousands of leaders, planted a multitude of bible schools, churches, medical clinics, orphanages and many other ministries in more than 70 countries in its 26 year history. Daniel served as president of Calvary International for 19 years until the year 2000, and is still an active board member, and President Emeritus. Calvary International currently has resident and non-resident missionary work in 50 countries and is led by its president, Dr. Jerry Williamson.
In January 1992, while Daniel continued in his role as president and founder of Calvary International, Daniel and Sharon founded Christ the Redeemer Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Christ the Redeemer Cathedral Church is the National Cathedral and National Office for the Communion of Convergence Churches U.S.A. and the Cathedral for the Redeemer Family of Churches and Ministries.
