Daniel Ennis

Daniel Ennis is an Irish politician and former footballer who has served on Dublin City Council for the North Inner City since 2024.

Political career

Ennis ran in the 2024 Dublin City Council election as a Social Democrats candidate in the North Inner City ward and was elected on the 12th count.

On 21 June 2024, at the annual meeting of Dublin City Council, the Social Democrats, alongside Sinn Féin, People Before Profit and a number of independent councillors put Ennis forward as a candidate to become Lord Mayor of Dublin. Ennis was defeated 25–32 in favour of Fine Gael's James Geoghegan. After Geoghegan vacated the office in December 2024, he once again put his name forward, with him being defeated 19–34 in favour of Fine Gael's Emma Blain.

Ennis was selected to be the party's candidate for the 2026 Dublin Central by-election in December 2025.
