Dab clan

The Dab are a Jat clan, found in the Punjab province of India and Pakistan.

Distribution

In India they are found in Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Bathinda districts.

In the Pakistan they are found mainly in the Shorkot Tehsil of Jhang District, and their main villages are is Jalala Dab and Dab Kalan Chak No.170 J.B Dab located at Jhang Faisalabad Road AbOUT the distanced of 10 K.M. in the Stop of Gojra More.

The village of Kotli Sultan Dab in Khanewal District, is also centre of the tribe. Before the partition of India, many Sikh and Muslim jat Dab's lived in Jhang and Sialkot districts of West Punjab.

Few Sikh Dab's come to India after partition making it a rare clan although there are many Muslim Dab jatts still in Pakistan.

In the Jhang district, The Dab family recalls from Mehar. In rural society, Mehar means 'from respected image'. In punjab province, Dabs are present mostly in district jhang, khanewal, and chakwal. The Dabs keep their recognition in chakwal by being wealthy transporters. The Dabkalan is found in district jhang, is a historical region and is famous for the heavy landlords Dab.The Dabs have made a very good name all over the world whether they belong to Sikh or the Muslim community.
