Cuentos Chinos
Cuentos Chinos is a spanish rock/pop band, considered as one of the many who took part on the movida madrileña during the 80s in Spain. The band is from Vila-real (Villarreal), Spain and consists of Enrique Renau (voice and guitarist), Alejandro Cardá (keyboardist) and Juan Enrique Torner (bass and backing vocals).
History
Half the year 1985, the band decided to take part on the first Pop-Rock contest, organized by the Castellón delegation, and the got the First Prize, this let them to record their first maxi-single, along with two other groups from the zone, the songs they recorded were "Aquel verano en Benicasim" (That summer on Benicasim) and "Solo es" (It's only).
After this little incursion on recording industry, the recorded a demo they sent to Madrid, and they signed a contract with PM Records (now deceased) and they recorded two albums.
On 1987 they released Debajo de un pino (Under a pine tree), an album produced by Javier Losada, who soon later formed the duo Veni Vidi Vici along with Daniel Maroto, they both released their first album "Alea jacta est". The most famous song from Debajo de un pino was undoubtedly "Cuatro Mexicanos" (Four Mexicans), which got highly rotation, even in "Los 40 principales".
From this album they released three singles. First was 'Cuatro Mexicanos'/'Vivo en la mina' (I live in the mine), second was 'Tu serás mi beibi' (You'll be my baby)/'Te Quiero Loro' (Love you/parrot), and the third and last was 'Es por la mañana, el niño sale de la cabaña con su caña para ir a pescar' (Early morning the kid leaves his cabin just to go fishing)/'San Serenín'.
On 1988 they released their second and last album Cómo me pone tu celulitis (How I love your cellulitis), It was a work on the same spirit as the last one, but it was totally ignored.
