Craig Huggins
Craig Huggins has been a part of the radio and Television industry since 1981. Whilst still at High School, Craig "pulled" his first shift at Melbourne's then Number One Rock station 3XY.
Since then he has been heard on the airwaves of 3WM Horsham and 4IP (or Radio 10) Brisbane before again gracing the corridors of 3XY. He was part of the great "air-lift" from 3XY to Melbourne's first Commercial FM station 3EON-FM (renamed Triple M) in 1988 before being lured to KZFM (now Gold 104) in 1991. He is still a major part of the Gold team at their current headquarters in Richmond.
Craig has been a RAWARDS finalist many times ('92, '93, '95, '96, '97, 2000, 2001) and was the winner of Best Australian Music Personality award in 1994.
He's been involved in Production, Promotion Editing, Promo writing, Creative writing, Comedy writing, Interviewing, compiling and recording Gig Guides and Top Ten info. lines, Sports reporting and compiling, Concert & Movie intros, creator of "Chart Attack", "Top 8 at 8", "All Request Lunch Break".
In Television he's been the Voice-over of many successful programs including Pot of Gold, Strike it Lucky, Blind Date, Keynotes, New FACES and All Together Now.
He was a sports reporter and VO on Wide World of Sports, and National Nine News Melbourne, as well as several ABC TV Sports programs.
He's appeared on many TV Shows including Ernie & Denise, Saturday Jukebox, C'mon Kids, Telethons, etc. Many Voice Overs on T.V. commercials including the highly successful and long running "Gillette Great Moments In Sports", Coles Supermarkets, also Disney Animated Feature Films, Captain Snooze, RetraVision, Kraft, National Australia Bank, Pancake Parlour, Strathfield Car Radio, Travelodge, Hunters & Collectors Tour, SEEK .com.
Craig, or Huggy as he is also known on-air, is the host MC of most Melbourne based functions for the Brisbane Lions AFL Club, from 1999-2006 he was the Court Announcer for National Netball League team "Melbourne Phoenix", as well as doing that role for Australian team games. He was the Court Announcer for all netball at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Craig placed 10th in the 1986 Australian Grand Prix Celebrity Race (a race in which Dire Straits' Mark Knopfler broke his collarbone). He is involved in local football (AFL) as well as many other sports. He is married to his wife Jenni, and they have two children.
Craig is currently the Drive Announcer at Melbourne's Gold 104, and afternoon announcer at Adelaide's Cruise 1323 AM.
