Corie C. Whalen
Corie C. Whalen is an American, Libertarian Republican political activist based in Houston, Texas. She is originally from Ashland, Massachusetts. Whalen was an early organizer of the Tea Party movement. She supported the presidential campaign of Congressman Ron Paul in 2008 and is currently an officer for the Republican Liberty Caucus. Whalen also works for Young Americans for Liberty and the Alliance for Self-Governance; she's also a Senior Editor for US Daily Review.
Tea Party and Ron Paul support
Whalen was one of the original organizers of the Boston Tea Party Freedom Rally held on December 16, 2007, at Faneuil Hall in Boston, Massachusetts; Rand Paul was the keynote speaker at this event. Concurrent to her work with the Boston Tea Party Freedom Rally, Whalen became an organizer for Congressman Ron Paul's 2008 presidential campaign in Massachusetts and was also involved in launching the Boston Ron Paul Meetup Group. Although some consider 2009 the beginning of the Tea Party movement, some have stated the real roots go back to the Boston Tea Party Freedom Rally that Whalen spoke at and helped organize. In his book, The Tea Party Goes to Washington, Paul cites the "Boston Tea Party Freedom Rally" as "the first tea party," eventually resulting in a movement that would spread across the nation and which helped propel many Republicans into elected office, including Paul himself. "Sarah Palin May Be the face of the Tea Party movement today, but it started with Ron Paul in 2007. That December, on the 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, Paul's presidential campaign supporters participated in a "money bomb," a one-day online fundraising blitz that raked in $6 million from 40,000 people nationwide, and drew upon the 1773 protest's anti-tax sentiments."
Republican Liberty Caucus
Whalen currently serves as a national officer for the Republican Liberty Caucus. On February 15, 2011, during the Republican Liberty Caucus National Convention (held in Arlington, Virginia), Whalen was elected to the organization's national board. Eventually the organization's board elected her National Secretary to the organization.
Young Americans for Liberty
Whalen serves as South Central Regional Director for Young Americans for Liberty, overseeing the organization's efforts in the South Central Region states of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Louisiana, and Arkansas.
