Corazon Mizzi
Corazon Mizzi is the winner of Festival Ghanja tal-Poplu 2007, the top Maltese festival for songs written using the Maltese language. Corazon's song held the name 'Hawn Jien' (lit. Here I am), written and penned by herself. "Hawn Jien" is the cry of an unborn baby to his insecure mother and her eventual response. This subject lights the fire to a topic at the fulcrum of Maltese debate, Malta being one of the few countries in which any form of abortion is contrary to law. Corazon's unexpected win came as a surprise to most, since this is only her third participation in a local festival and is a relatively new face in the Maltese local scene. Mark Tonna and Andrew Zammit placed second with their song: "Dak kien Zmien" and J.Anvil placed third with 'Apokalissi' composed by Chan Vella and written by Alexia Schembri.
