Cool World Club

Cool World Club was a night club located in Spartanburg, South Carolina from 1999 to 2003. It was located on 620 West Blackstock Road, a few blocks away from Westgate Mall.

Since the club sat on a hill, its distinct blue and yellow scheme made it visible to bypassers entering Westgate Mall and from Interstate 26.

Its most popular night was Thursday College NiGHTS with DJ SupaDave. Since Spartanburg is home to five colleges: Wofford College, Converse College, University of South Carolina Upstate (formerly USC-Spartanburg), Spartanburg Community College (formerly Spartanburg Tech), and Spartanburg Methodist College, the place would usually fill up to capacity. Students from other neighboring colleges such as Gardner Webb, Clemson, Greenville Tech, North Greenville College, and Bob Jones University would also come to party.

Friday night would also serve as a dance night however it did not have the popularity of Thursdays. Saturday nights was "teen night", which targeted the 13-18 year old high school crowd. Since blue laws were in effect in South Carolina, Saturday nights was the logical choice to host "teen night" which the bar did not serve any alcoholic beverages. Since the majority of money made was from the 21 and over crowd and alcoholic beverages was not allowed to be served after 12:01 a.m. on that Sunday morning. The local radio station WFBC B93.7 would promote the club on their station and serve as MC's. Radio personalities Some Guy Named Tias, Pancho and Chris Lusk would regularly attend.

The club had a large checker board dance floor in the middle along with two dance cages where only females were allowed. There was a huge bar on one end of the club and the DJ Booth on the other end. A stage where concerts were held along with several wet t-shirt contests sat adjacent.

Cool World also had a smaller building within the club which was called "Other World" which played mostly techno and trance music. There was also a wooded fenced outside patio where patrons would go outside and smoke cigarettes, talk on their cell phones, and chat with their friends. There was an outdoor bar and several picnic tables.

Cool World also had another location in Asheville, North Carolina

The location has tried to come back with different owners under different names. However, none enjoyed the success and popularity of Cool World:
