Compass (consulting)

Compass is an independent privately owned management consulting firm . Its motto: Fact Based Consultancy highlights its consulting services in strategy, performance improvement and business management based upon comparative analysis.

History

Compass was founded in Sweden by Olof Söderblom and Thomas Blitz in 1980. Olof Söderblom pioneered the area of comparative analysis - the formation of complex models to allow the analysis of detailed performance metrics. Early clients were Volvo, L M Ericsson Data AB and SKF Dataservice, who submitted performance metrics to form the foundations of what is now a global database covering all aspects of IT and business operations

Since 1980, Compass has produced and delivered over 8,000 studies in 32 countries, saving clients billion of dollars in annual costs. This result is sometimes referred to as the Compass Effect. David Whitmore was named Group Chief Executive Officer in April 2007.

Investment

The Compass Research and Development facility is based in Guildford, UK with additional research centers for specific business disciplines worldwide. Compass conducts ongoing research and developments to ensure that the comparative analysis models, databases and knowledge bases remain consistent and relevant to leading global operational practices (ITIL), processes and technology changes.
