The Colonel (Abdul Al-Rahman) is a fictional character from Ultimate Marvel comic books published by Marvel Comics. A superhuman member of the Liberators, he was created by writer Mark Millar and artist Bryan Hitch, first appearing in The Ultimates 2 #7.

Fictional character biography

Furious at the invasion of his homeland of Iran by American super-soldiers, who are destroying a nuclear facility, scrawny Iranian Azerbaijan native teenager Abdul Al-Rahman volunteers to undergo medical treatments to gain superhuman abilities that would allow him to strike back at America. The treatments are successful, and Al-Rahman rapidly gains muscle mass and an athletic physique. He is described in Ultimates 2 #10 as "the first person since Steve Rogers responsive to the Super Soldier Serum."

During the Liberators' invasion of America, he engages Captain America (Steve Rogers) in hand-to-hand combat in Washington, DC.. He orders all other units not to interfere. The fight moves to the National World War II Memorial. After Rogers defeats him, the Colonel rescinds his order, having his soldiers hold Rogers down while Al-Rahman prepares to decapitate him. However, the Hulk throws Captain America's shield with enough strength to slice off the Colonel's hands, giving Captain America enough time to break free and knock the Colonel into a nearby fountain. The Colonel mocks Captain America, asking him if he even knows why the invasion happened. Captain America then impales Abdul with his own weapon.

Weaponry/Gadgets

He has been shown carrying a weapon resembling a laser staff. The weapon, however, was broken by Captain America and he later showed that it could cut quickly through multiple enemies in one stroke. The Colonel also carries a video camera to document the humiliations of the Ultimates and the downfall of America. His uniform also features what appears to be a stylized "W". If this is a reference to Waziristan it is a geographical error: Waziristan is part of Pakistan and is not in Iran.
