Usage – Telemedicine applications and usage
Telemedicine is the transmission of medical information via electronic communications, such as face-to-face video chat between physicians and patients, to improve a patient’s clinical health status. Secure video chat appointments can be used to increase patient access to care and eliminate barriers to care such as time, distance, and travel constraints. The American Psychiatry Association refers to telepsychiatry as one of the most effective ways to increase access to psychiatric care for individuals living in underserved areas. Telemedicine can be used for diagnosis and assessment, medication management, and to provide individual or group therapy.
