Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada
PT Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada Tbk (CMNP) is a toll road company headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia. As of the end of 2020, the company held concessions for five toll road sections on the island of Java.
History
The company was founded by Siti Hardijanti Rukmana, the eldest daughter of President Suharto, in April 1987 as a private company and became the first private company to obtain a toll road concession in Indonesia, namely the Cawang–Tanjung Priok Toll Road, which is 19.03 kilometres long. Construction of the toll road began in 1989, and it was opened to traffic the following year. In 1993, the company began constructing the Harbour Toll Road (Jalan Tol Pelabuhan), spanning 13.93 kilometres. In 1995, the company was listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange.
In 1996, together with Jasa Marga, the company began operating the Jakarta Inner Ring Road with a total length of 56.51 kilometres. In the same year, it established PT Citra Margatama Surabaya to manage the concession for the Surabaya Eastern Ring Road Toll Road. The company subsequently planned to develop several new toll roads in partnership with Nusamba and Sinar Mas Land, including the Tanjung Priok–Cikarang Toll Road, Halim–Cipanas Toll Road, Citeureup–Jonggol Toll Road, Cikarang–Padalarang Toll Road, Cikampek–Palimanan Toll Road, and Kanci–Krapyak Toll Road. However, following the 1997 Asian financial crisis, these plans were abandoned at the urging of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In 1999, the company acquired a 21% stake in the Philippine company Citra Metro Manila Tollways Corporation (CMMTC). In 2002, the concession for the Surabaya Eastern Ring Road Toll Road was revised into the Waru–Juanda Toll Road. Also in 2002, the company established PT Global Network Investindo. In 2005, it established PT Citra Waspphutowa to manage the 22-kilometre Depok–Antasari Toll Road concession. That same year, the concession for the Jakarta Inner Ring Road was extended until 31 March 2025. In April 2008, the 12.8-kilometre Waru–Juanda Toll Road was opened to traffic.
In 2009, the company's ownership in CMMTC was diluted to 11% after it did not participate in a rights issue. The following year, it sold its remaining 11% stake in CMMTC. In 2011, the company became one of the founders of PT Jakarta Toll Road Development, which was established to manage the concession for six sections of the Jakarta Inner Ring Road. In the same year, PT Global Network Investindo was renamed PT Citra Persada Infrastruktur (CPI). In 2012, CPI acquired PT Girder Indonesia.
In June 2014, the company established PT Citra Marga Nusantara Propertindo. In 2015, a consortium led by the company won the concession to develop and operate the 8.15-kilometre Soreang–Pasirkoja Toll Road until 2060. In the same year, together with PT Jasa Sarana and PT Wijaya Karya, it established PT Citra Marga Lintas Jabar to manage the concession. In 2017, together with PT Waskita Toll Road, PT Pembangunan Perumahan, PT Brantas Abipraya, and PT Jasa Sarana, the company established PT Citra Karya Jabar to manage the concession for the Cileunyi–Sumedang–Dawuan Toll Road.
In July 2017, the company established PT GST Persada Indonesia. In December 2017, the 8.15-kilometre Soreang–Pasirkoja Toll Road was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo. In September 2018, Section I (Antasari–Brigif) of the Depok–Antasari Toll Road, measuring 5.8 kilometres, was also inaugurated by President Joko Widodo. Also in 2018, the company signed amendments to two of its toll road concessions: the Ancol Timur–Pluit Elevated Toll Road as an extension of the Cawang–Tanjung Priok–Ancol Timur–Jembatan Tiga Toll Road concession, and the North South Link Bandung toll road as an extension of the Soreang–Pasirkoja Toll Road concession. In July 2020, Section II (Brigif–Sawangan) of the Depok–Antasari Toll Road, measuring 6.3 kilometres, was opened to traffic.
