Cinema/Paradiso

Cinema Paradiso is a segment of a magazine type television show called Aquarel on a local Osijek TV station Osječka Televizija. The TV show "Aquarel" is a permanent TV show since the foundation of this local TV station. It is hosted by several moderators including Karmela Bebek, Ružica Smolčić, Domagoj Šuster and Martina Družinec. The segment in question is a part of Thursday's show moderated by Karmela Bebek, and deals with films in general and new films opening in Osijek. It also gives the viewers a chance to find out about their quality before actually seeing them in a movie theater. The segment is hosted by two prominent Croatian film critics Kristijan Stakor and Vjekoslav Rosandić, who have been with the show since its beginning in 2008. The show is currently being aired live from studio A of Osječka Televizija every Thursday from 5:30 to 6 pm. The show can also be viewed later on when it is re-aired the same day at 11:30 pm.

This segment is currently the only segment on any Croatian TV station, including the Public Broadcasting System called Croatian Radiotelevision, that actively reviews movies that come to the cinema near you. Being aired for more than two years now, it is also longest running TV segment that deals with movies in general in the history of any Croatian Television since gaining its independence from the Yugoslavian Radio Television in 1990.

Special Events

The segment hosted by Stakor and Rosandić is known to have some special editions given the notion of always being ready to comment on current events in the film industry. The most prominent special editions of this segment are the ones covering the Academy AwardNominations and Awards, and a few TV shows dealing with the best and the worst films of the year so far. Such were two shows that aired on Christmas and New Year's Eve 2009, which featured the Top 5 list of the Best Holiday Films so far, as well as the Top 10 Films of the Decade.
