Ciarán was born in Dublin, Ireland. He initially started out as a local DJ for bars and nightclubs and through this was introduced to various radio presenters who encouraged him to get involved with radio. Ciarán was already involved in broadcasting at this stage with numerous pirate radio stations based in and around Dublin. In the mid-nineties he started working for his local heritage station East Coast Radio as a producer then turned to presenting full-time. Over the next few years Ciarán spent time with other stations on a freelance basis before moving into management with East Coast Radio as Operations Manager and from this moved to Glasgow, Scotland in 2005 to take up the position of Programme Controller with Q96 a station recently purchased by UTV as part of their Wireless Group takeover. After a year with this station it was sold to GMG Radio where it was rebranded as 96.3 Rock Radio. In the course of this takeover Ciarán was retained and moved to the position of Head Of Presentation for Real Radio Scotland as well as 96.3 Rock Radio.
Life at GMG Radio
During 2007 Real Radio acheived a notable milestone when it recorded 31% market share which was the first time any regional radio station has surpassed 30% in commercial radio history.
GMG Radio also made history when they became the first group to integrate more than two commercial FM radio stations within one building with Real Radio, Smooth Radio & Rock Radio all broadcasting from their Glasgow studios.
For January 2008 Ciaran has organised Rock Radio's first live event that will host a range of classic rock bands including Sensational Alex Harvey band, Thunder (band) & Gun (band) along with others in order to raise funds for Nordoff-Robbins music therapy Scotland.
Ciaran is Head of Presentation for Real Radio (Scotland) and 96.3 Rock Radio, and also presents Saturday evenings on 96.3 Rock Radio
