Chrystal Radio and Television

Chrystal Radio and Television is a hospital radio and television station operating at the Sheffield Children's Hospital in Sheffield, England.

The original radio service began in July 1984 and continues to serve patients and staff of the hospital with a lively mixture of radio programming. The TV service launched in 1991 but has since closed. They are a registered charity (no. 1000592), seeking donations of funds, equipment and programming from outside sources.

The station name originated from a competition when the station first launched. The name Chrystal was picked as an acronym, Children's Hospital Radio, Your Station To Always Listen.

A number of broadcasting personalities began their careers at Chrystal Radio, including brothers Richard McCourt from children's TV duo [...] and Dom and TV presenter James McCourt.

Anthony Gay, currently programme director at 97.4 Rock FM in Preston, was also a member of the Chrystal Radio team and was the station's first presenter when the station launched.
