Christopher Bell (military historian)

Christopher Bell (born 20 April 1968 in Leicester, Leicestershire, England) is an English military historian.

Born to Leslie William and Dinah Bell (née Kenworthy), Bell was brought up in the village of Markfield, Leicestershire, and attended several schools in Groby, Leicester Grammar School and the De Montfort University, where he gained a first class honours degree, before going up to New College, Oxford, where he graduated MA before pursuing his career.

His published articles include "Enlistment, Impressment & National Service" and "The Social effect of the Pals Battalions". Bell is currently writing historical fiction, focussing on the actions during the American War of Independence of the 17th Regiment of Foot, now the Royal Leicestershire Regiment. The Heroes of Princeton is due for release in 2010.

Although he rejected a career in the Army, Bell developed strong links with the Royal Leicestershire Regiment, generating funds towards the 'Tigers' museum. He is a life member of the Royal Tigers Association and the academic society Gray's Lodge and is a founding member of the Tommy Atkins Society and the Victory Show. He has given much time to several servicemen's charities, raising their profile and awareness.
