Chris Whitley (ice hockey)

Chris Whitley (born February 21, 1983) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender. Whitley attended Lakehead University (CIS) from 2004-2009 and obtained several awards including OUA MVP, OUA First Team All-Star and First Team All-Canadian. Chris attended the Detroit Red Wings training camp in 2009. He had a 4 year minor pro hockey career that began with the Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League in the 2009-10 season. He finished that year with a 31-8-4 record and led the Americans to a league final where they eventually lost to the Rapid City Rush in 6 games. During the 09-10 season Whitley earned two AHL call-ups with the (Texas Stars and Lake Erie Monsters). With Lake Erie, Whitley started one game making 37 saves and earned a 6-5 shootout victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins. After two years in Allen, Whitley moved on to play in Dundee Scotland playing for the Dundee Stars in the EIHL. Whitley finished his career with the Cardiff Devils in the EIHL in 2012. He currently resides in Thunder Bey, Ontario, Canada.
