Chris Stewart (LDS fiction writer)

Chris Stewart, a world-record-setting US Air Force pilot, is also a well-known LDS fiction author. Some of the books he has written are: A Christmas Bell for Anya and The Fourth Bell. He has a continuing series of four books (so far) titled, The Great and Terrible. The fourth book was released in 2007. His fiction novels are known to be full of suspense with intriguing plots.

Chris Stewart's interest lies in writing military techno-thrillers. He has also been an editor for the Detroit Free Press. While working as an editor, he commented on national security and other military matters. He started writing without any real intentions of becoming an author. The first book he wrote just fell into place. He began thinking of a plot one night around Christmastime and found that the story could be very good. Chris Stewart said this in an interview, "Yeah. My experience there was a little bit unusual from most writers in the fact that I only had written AbOUT sixty or seventy pages. I remember I started writing in the fall and about Christmastime I had just, oh, seven or eight chapters, and my wife came up to the den one night and she says, 'Hey, what are you doing up here all the time?'"

This experience lead him into his career. His LDS background gives him inspiration to write his books. The series that he is working on now, is based on the battle Between Good and Evil and has many other religious themes tied in as well. He believes that even though the church gives support and we have help all around us, evil is constantly focusing on individuals. The real battle is within ourselves and this is what he shows through his writing.

Chris Stewart currently lives in Farmington, Utah with his family. He has a wife, Evie, and six kids.
