Chris Pickles
Christopher Paul Pickles (11 August 1980) is an English author.
Early life
Christopher Pickles was born in Lyndhurst to Anthony John and Catherine Theresa (née Davis). He was the second of four children of an upper middle class family. He graduated with honours from Aberystwyth University. Following his graduation Pickles became a JET Programme teacher.
Emigration to Japan
In August 2005 he accepted a government position teaching English to the poor and impoverished of some of Japan's most rural villages. It was there, of all places, he was discovered. His rise to stardom began with a brief cameo on cable TV's Ohayo Tokushima, but after the furore surrounding his first televised airing, NHK decided to take him on as a regular guest.
Directing
His first musical, Momotaro and the revenge of akaoni, was an immediate success when published in 2007, and played to sold out theatres throughout Japan. Sources have claimed that Pickles will soon be directing once again, this time a production of the Lion King.
Acting
Pickles then took to the limelight and began to star in plays rather than direct, and has become something of a local celebrity in his home town of Tokushima. To date he has performed in six full scale theatrical performances and though some reviews have slated his acting talent he has retained a slew of hardcore fans. His performance as the evil Mr Meiji in the chocolate factory brought him much acclaim and his attention to NHK. Pickles is currently in negotiations with NHK and his publicist cannot divulge any further information.
