Chris Ball (rugby union)

Chris Ball (born 1 September 1985 in Swansea, Wales) is a rugby union player for Newport RFC and the Newport Gwent Dragons regional team. He previously played for Glynneath RFC and Neath RFC.

Chris Ball's position of choice is as a centre. Ball has yet to start for the Dragons and was brought on board from Neath RFC in October 2009. His last match for Neath was against Swansea in May where he ran 70yds to set up Arwel Thomas for one of the best tries of the season.

Early life

Chris has lived in the village of Glynneath, in the Neath Valley, Wales since the age of 2. After attending Glynneath Welsh School and then Ysgol Gyfun Ystylafera in the Swansea Valley, Chris went onto study Architecture at Leicester University. While at univerisity he would try and play for his local rugby team Glynneath RFC whenever possible. His excellent performances in the 2007/08 season earned him a trial with Neath RFC and he took a gap year for his final University Term to continue this trial.
