Charles Chester (rugby)

Charles T. Chester (3 December 1919 – ) was an English rugby union and professional rugby league footballer of the 1930s, '40s and '50s, playing club level rugby union (RU) for Sandal RUFC, and playing club level rugby league (RL) for Wakefield Trinity, as a , or , i.e. number 8 or 10, or 9, during the era of contested scrums.

Personal life

Charles Chester married Mary Strutt (born January→March 1923 in Wakefield district) during July→September 1945 in Wakefield district, their son is the Wakefield Trinity and Warrington rugby league footballer David "Dave" C. Chester (born July→September 1946 in Wakefield district). They had 2 other children, Yvonne Chester and Philip Chester. Before their marriage Charles and Mary served our country in World War II, returning home to marry and have children. They were married for sixty-six years before Charles' death aged 92, his funeral service took place at St Paul’s Church, Alverthorpe on Wednesday, 28 December 2011, and was followed by an burial at Sugar Lane cemetery.
