Characters in Tyler Perry Plays

The following characters are characters in Tyler Perry plays including I Can Do Bad All By Myself, Madea's Family Reunion (play), Madea's Class Reunion, Meet the Browns, and Madea Goes to Jail.

Note: Most of the characters that only appeared inMadea's Family ReunionandMeet the Brownsare not on here currently, but will be soon.

Main characters

  • Madea
  • Deacon Theodore Leroy Brown: Deacon Leroy Brown is one of Madea's friends, her neighbor and the father of her daughter (Cora). Brown is the same age of Madea, they both graduated in the class of 1953 (as shown in Madea's Class Reunion). Called just "Brown" most of the time, Brown loves to go to church, where he is a deacon. He often wears clothes too small for him, Madea implying that he shops at Baby Gap. He also shouts a lot at all music (thinking all music is church music). His wife died of Alzheimers and he cremated her and keeps her in a red Pringles can. He has appeared in: I Can Do Bad All By Myself, Madea's Family Reunion, Madea's Class Reunion and Meet the Browns. Brown is portrayed by David Mann.
  • Cora Jean Simmons Brown: Cora is the daughter of Madea, and her father is Brown (which was shown in Madea's Class Reunion). Madea remembered in Class Reunion that Brown was her father. It is learned in Class Reunion that her middle name is Jean. Cora is middle-aged and works at Atlanta's Pandora Hotel. It was implied that she became manager in Class Reunion. She was once stout and lost weight in Class Reunion. She is very religious (like her father), and usually is trying to keep Madea out of jail (she did not appear in Madea Goes to Jail, but was mentioned). Cora is portrayed by Tamela Mann. Mann is the wife of David Mann who ironically portrays Cora's father, Deacon Leroy Brown.

Minor characters

  • Helen: Helen is the daughter of Myrtle and Madea's son William. She was married to Charles until he cheated on her with her friend Brenda
  • Victoria: Victoria is Madea's niece. Her only appearance was in Madea's Family Reunion, she has four sons, ones name is Michael. She seems to like there pastor Reverend Lewis.
  • Tina:Tina is the daughter of Cora, and the sister of Lisa. In Madea's Family Reunion she is a crack head. She is married to Tyrone, and has a daughter named Shemar
  • Lisa: Lisa is the daughter of Cora Jean, and the sister of Tina. In Madea's Family Reunion she was going to get married then she decided to stay with her ex-boyfriend. As a child her father raped her and her sister on Sundays.
  • Leo: Nicknamed "Leo the Lion" Leo is a friend of Madea's. He works along with Sunny at the prison. He was dating Ella and most likely still is. He turned out to be the father of Vanessa's baby. He has a sense of humor, but usually causes trouble that someone goes back and makes up. Lavan Davis
  • Sunny Simmons: Sonny is Madea's nephew. He works at the prison alongside Leo. He is kind of naive but has some smart moments. His first wife was Vanessa (Chantel Christopher) but he divorced her after she slept with his boss Nate (Ryan Gentles) and Leo was the father of the child he thought was his. Then he got back together with an old flame named Wanda Cheryl Pepsi Riley who had become an attorney. His first appearance was in Madea Goes to Jail.
  • Wanda: Wanda is Sonny's girlfriend (possible wife) after he divorced Vanessa. She is a shy attorney who is an old friend of Sonny. Her first appearance was in Madea's Class Reunion. Wanda is portrayed by Cheryl "Pepsii" Riley
  • Toni: Toni is a teenager who Madea took in before her mother got out of jail. Her mother went to jail after stabbing her husband while he was trying to harass Toni. Toni had been in many foster homes and was disobedient. She usually connected with Madea through being bad. At the end she went back with her mother and became saved. Her mother Katie (Judy Peterson) was a former prostitute and when she got in jail became saved. Toni was portrayed by Anndretta Lyle.
  • Ella Kincaid: Ella is Madea's best friend and neighbor. She is younger than Madea probalby in her early fifties. Her boyfriend is Leo, but it was not implied again that they were still an item after it was revealed that Leo was the father of Vanessa's baby. She is much like Madea, only a little bit softer, and more religious. She made her first appearance in Madea Goes to Jail. Ella is portrayed by Cassie Davis
  • Dr. Willy Leroy: He worked very briefly at the Pandora Hotel, and usually harassed the guests. He poured out the remains of Brown's wife from the Pringles can. He just worked at the hotel to have rent for one month. He took the cash register with him when he quit. He supposedly has a doctorate degree, but it is very doubtful. Willy is portrayed also by Tyler Perry

The Brown family

All of these characters appeared inMeet the Brownsand might appear in the future inMadea Meets the Browns''.

  • Mattie: Mattie is Browns wife who died from Alzheimers. Her and Brown have one daughter together. She was cremated and Brown stored her ashes in a pringles can. She did not, however, appear in Meet the Browns. She appered in the stage play Madea's Family Reunion.
  • Pop Brown: The departed father of L.B., Brown and Vera. He looks just like L.B. His late's wife was Millie Jean.
  • L.B. Brown: L.B is Brown's brother and his wife is Sarah. He is usually more outspoken than his brother Brown, and is not any way as religious as his brother. He is also the brother of Vera and father of Milay.
  • Sarah Brown: Sarah Brown is the wife of L.B. she is very religious, the opposite of her husband and does most of the housework. Her daughter is Milay.
  • Milay Brown: Milay is the daughter of L.B. and Sarah. She was divorced one time but got back with her husband, Gerald in Meet the Browns.
  • Vera Brown: Vera is the sister of Brown and L.B. She drinks most of the time, and thought Brown was dead when she came to their father's funeral. She at first called out to Cora, until Cora acted like Madea and she calmed down. Her son is Will who is a gynecologist and his wife is Kim who can't cook.
