Chakdwipa High School
Chakdwipa High School is a higher secondary school affiliated to the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education in the state of West Bengal, India. The school is named after the village Chakdwipa, a village by the side of river Haldi.
Formally established in 1949, Chakdwipa High School is one of the most sought after schools in the locality. The approximate student strength in this school is 1600. The teaching faculty strength is roughly 30 (with a number of para-teachers, part time teachers recruited as a part of Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan
1 Policy of the Govt of West Bengal). The school boasts of 'Prafulla Smriti Vignan Sanstha' which has collection of various biological samples, some rare. The school has a laboratory of Chemistry and one of Physics. However, the facilities are negligible compared to what is needed. The library has a few reference books but unfortunately it is noway an impressive collection.
Much of the improvements of this school is due to Late Paresh Chandra Malakar, ex-headmaster of the school. Dr. Subesh Kuity had a brief but successful stint as an HM. The present HM is Ashis Patra, an ex-student of this school.
