Chainsaws from Hell
"Chainsaws", as they were known to their cult audience, were a seminal metal punk group from Toronto, Ontario. The group recorded two sonically perfect albums "Chainsaws from Hell Volume 1" and "Chainsaws from Hell Volume 666" in the late 1970's and early 1980's. Founders S. D. MacPherson and Reverend Kuhl are perpetually rumored to be in a recording studio in northern Scarborough (near Toronto, Canada) preparing their next album.
What the group lacked in creativity they compensated for with feedback and distortion. Subsequent speed metal bands adopted variations to the name and the MusicAL stance. Known for their epic 20 minute versions of cover songs, some fans claimed each song transcended the original. Every live show featured a revolving door of local musicians whose contributions created unique renditions of rock classics.
