Ceasar McKenzie
Ceasar McKenzie (born July 4, 1986) is a professional basketball player who is currently playing for the New Orleans Hornets, in the National Basketball Association (NBA). McKenzie was drafted from Oklahoma State in Round 2 of the 2005 NBA draft, where he was chosen by the Hornets as their rookie Point Guard. Although only having a short career so far, Ceasar McKenzie has achieved more than a rookie could hope for; winning 2005 Rookie of the Year award and also in 2008 being awarded the 'Better than Ray Allen Award', one of the most common awards giving out to players at the beginning of their career. McKenzie is also said to appear in Universal Pictures production of 'I'm Better Than Allen', release date yet to be set.
Personal life
McKenzie grew up in a New York with a life filled with drugs and a dysfunctional family. Trouble with the law was a constant in his life and basketball, quoted by McKenzie; "It saved my life" he stated in an article by the New York Times writing AbOUT the cities newest sport star. Growing up with life in poverty McKenzie could not provide for himself and was dependant on what ever he could get. In 2004 he was granted an instant scholarship to Oklahoma State for his remarkable basketball talent in high school. After studying for only one year he was drafted by the Hornets as their new rookie Point Guard (PG).
