Cate Doty

Cate Doty (born 1979) is an American journalist who writes for The New York Times.

For the Times, Doty has written for the daily Sports, National, Business and Metropolitan pages; the Week in Review, Television and Regionals (Westchester, New Jersey, Connecticut and Long Island) weekly sections; and the Society desk.

In the summer of 2001, Doty was an intern at the St. Petersburg Times and received the Robert T. Pittman Scholarship.

She is a 2002 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (where she was a reporter and editor of The Daily Tar Heel) and was a writing finalist in journalism awards given by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation in 2002. Doty's article for the National Writing Championship was awarded first place in the on-the-spot competition; she won second place overall in the Hearst Journalism Awards Program.
