CatchingYourClouds (meaning chasing for your dreams despite when the world may tell you that they are impossible to achieve) is the alias of 21 year old pop-acoustic musician Drake Christopher Henning from Bryant, Arkansas.

Combining elements of modern day pop music with an upbeat acoustic guitar, Henning has created a unique and catchy new sound that has appealed to a wide audience around the world, including fans of Owl City, The Ready Set, Never Shout Never, Sleeping With Sirens, and more.

In two short years, CatchingYourClouds has been present on many national tours, including the 2012 Vans Warped Tour, and has toured with international acts such as Late Nite Reading, Her Bright Skies, and Ghost Town. He also runs a YouTube gaming channel called "Drakestopher"

Career

In early 2011, Henning began writing music inspired by his life and past experiences as a "self-release", but never intended for them to be released to the world.

Shortly after recording some of his music, a demo was leaked onto the popular video-hosting website YouTube which debuted one of Henning's songs. The reaction to this video was positive, receiving nearly 10,000 views within its first few days of release. This is what eventually led Henning to begin releasing music under the alias.

CatchingYourClouds has since progressed exponentially, as after only two years, Henning has reached 750,000+ fans on his Facebook page and over 3,000,000 views on YouTube, with these numbers growing rapidly each day.

Personal life

Drake Christopher Henning was born on September 9, 1993 in Bryant, AR.

As a child, Henning moved around often due to his parents being divorced. After settling in Mesquite, Texas for a while, in 2003 Drake was given his first guitar by his mother, although he was uninterested in playing the instrument at the time. In 2004 Henning's mother and stepfather died due to substance abuse. This caused him to commit his life to not doing drugs, and eventually to become straight-edge.

Following the death of Henning's mother, he moved from Texas to Bryant, Arkansas with his father. After a year of suffering from depression and an emotional absence of his mother, Drake's 5th grade teacher gave him an interest of poetry and writing, which gave him the motivation to pick up his guitar and begin playing again. Learning how music and writing could help him, music gave Henning company and helped him deal with his current state of depression.

In 2009, Henning created a YouTube channel and started creating videos. Through these videos, he met a girl named Rose, who he ended up falling in love with. It has been noted at this time that Drake lived in a fairly dysfunctional household, which eventually led to him moving across the country at 16 to live with Rose and her mother in Portland, Oregon. At first, things went supposedly well, but eventually due to the extremities of the living situation, they ended up parting, causing Drake to move back home with his Father. After this breakup, Drake was again stuck in a state of depression which involved him considering [...] and even more severely, [...].

He eventually overcame these thoughts and began to write more poetry and entries, which led to him creating meaningful songs that came from his heart and past experiences.

These songs eventually led to the creation of CatchingYourClouds.
