Carso Center for Advanced Research in Space Optics

Carso Center for Advanced Reaserch in Space Optics
Established in 1989, the Center for Advanced Research in Space Optics (CARSO) is one of the premier European Laboratories committed to R&D activities in the field of advanced optical instrumentation and components for space applications

CARSO's main fields of interests focus on optical technologies and astronomical instrumentation for space platforms: autonomous pointing and tracking systems for the shuttle and space station; fluorimeters for biological experiments in space; photon counting INSTRUMENTS for satellite earth observation; vision systems for real-time 3-D remote handling and quality control in industry; software for space instrumentation; and experiments on the physiology of the human eye under zero-gravity conditions.
Carso is partner of the International project AMS ( Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer). It is a space borne particle physics experiment designed to search for and measure, with a much greater sensitivity than heretofore possible, various unusual types of matter. AMS will be the first sensitive magnetic spectrometer in space. It will be an external ISS(International Space Station) experiment devoted to the research of the antimatter in the Universe 1

At present moment President and CEO of " Carso Center for Advanced Reaserch in Space Optics is the economist Antonio Kim Ciccarelli
Carso is a conglomerate backed by AREA Science Park and Swing Group. AREA Science Park is one of the leading science and technology parks in Europe. Swing Group is a financial company that controls many companies in different fields.
