Carrboro Music Festival
The Carrboro Music Festival is a large music festival held in Carrboro, North Carolina each year on the last Sunday in September. This festival is designed to provide the wealth of local and regional talent with opportunities to reveal their talent to a wider audience. The Festival showcases both professional and amateur performers and the varied MusicAL styles they represent. In the space of a few hours (and within a few blocks) a listener can hear bluegrass, folk music, jazz, country, rock & roll, classical and world music.
Every year it has over 150 bands playing at 21 different indoor and outdoor venues in downtown Carrboro. The event is free and food and drinks are plentiful. The festival also provides activities for children including a variety of arts and crafts and large slides and bounce houses. The Little Blue Choo provides free transportation along Weaver Street in the form of a little blue train. A free shuttle bus runs between Carrboro Plaza’s Park and Ride Area and downtown Carrboro between noon and 8:00 PM.
The festival website, www.carrboromusicfestival.com, has a schedule of performance times and locations as well as a venue map, band bios, sponsorship information, photos from past years and a list of items for the fundraising raffle. Recorded updates can be heard at 919-918-7307.
