Early life

Caroline Brooks grew up in Tyler, Texas as the middle of three sisters. Brooks started playing piano at the age of 7, and was classically trained as a vocalist at age 16. Outside of high school, she was involved in musical theater productions, appearing in musicals and plays such as Oklahoma!, Into the Woods, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She also competed in high school choir competitions, achieving All State Choir as a Soprano 1 for two years in a row, and receiving superior awards for sight-reading.

She attended the University of Texas at Austin as a Radio-Television-Film major, and was selected to be in an A capella group called Ransom Notes. Outside of college, she took acting classes with coaches Mona Lee and Steve Prince. She was seen at one of Mona Lee's showcases by talent agent Liz Atherton (from TAG Talent Agency), who picked her up for representation as an actress. As a film major, Brooks enjoyed writing stories, and appeared in a few independent films while attending UT. Before graduating, however, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

2006 – 2013: Early career

Brooks started performing around the southern California area, including venues like Hotel Café, The Mint, Room 5, WitZend, Molly Malone’s, Saint Rocke, as well as San Diego’s Lestat’s and San Francisco’s Hotel Utah. She began collaborating with songwriters such as Jim Collins (Kenny Chesney's "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy," Jason Aldean), Phredley Brown (musical director for Bruno Mars), and David Hodges (Christina Perri, Kelly Clarkson, Evanescence, Carrie Underwood). She started playing college shows nationwide, developing loyal fan bases in cities as diverse as Austin, Washington D.C., New York, and Los Angeles.

She was seen by acclaimed songwriter and ASCAP President Paul Williams when performing The Star-Spangled Banner in Nashville at an event hosted by country star Trace Adkins. Williams approached Brooks and was quoted saying, "[Caroline] is really, really talented. I predict a very successful career.” Soon, offers for TV, film, and commercial placements began coming in. This led to her song "Parachute" to being featured in a trailer for the film A Little Bit of Heaven, starring Kate Hudson. Caroline was then selected to play various showcases at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas in March 2012 and 2013.

During the holiday season of 2013, ABC Family featured Brooks' Christmas single "25 Days of Christmastime" for their renowned "Twenty-five Days of Christmas" countdown. In addition, she was featured in Giorgio Moroder’s song “Doo Bee Doo” (2014 version), which was used in the Volkswagen 2014 Super Bowl commercial entitled "Wings."

2013 – present

In April 2013, Brooks independently released her single “Tomorrow, Tonight", which spread rapidly after receiving enthusiastic press from sources including Entertainment Tonight, AOL, Artists on Demand, and The Huffington Post. This widespread buzz led to her interview with IN Magazine, where she was featured on the cover for the July/August issue.

Shortly afterwards, Brooks released her single "Parachute" with the accompanying music video starring WWE former wrestler Shad Gaspard , which spread rapidly and caused the single to advance up to #15 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts. It was then featured on the cover of the iTunes Singer/Songwriter genre page as "New and Noteworthy." The success for Brooks' single escalated even more when Young Hollywood featured her as an "Artist to Watch."

Brooks is also known for her side-project with musician/producer C. Todd Nielsen called Goldheart. Their song "We Go Well Together" was featured in a Marc Jacobs ad for their fragrance called Honey. Perez Hilton featured this ad on his website, giving the song (and Goldheart) even more popularity. This song is also featured on the Just Dance Kids 2014 video game that can be found on Wii and Xbox 360.

The young singer-songwriter went on a nationwide tour opening for Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers, and her songs were recently featured in MTV's Finding Carter and TV Land's Jennifer Falls. She is currently working on new material to be released in the fall of 2014.
