Camp Hollymont is a Christian summer camp for girls located on the grounds of the Asheville School in Asheville, North Carolina. Camp Hollymont first opened its doors in 1983. Each summer, Hollymont offers four 13-day sessions and two 6-day sessions. Campers often attend two consecutive sessions.

Activities

Skills

Campers take six skills a session that include digital photography, dance, gymnastics, modeling and manners, guitar, sign language, choir, soccer, softball, tennis, pioneering, golf, arts and crafts, horseback riding, swimming, water aerobics, aerobics, team sports, athletic conditioning, cooking, LIFE (Living in Faith Everyday: ages 12-15), sewing, basketball, volleyball, archery, drama, creative writing, and baby-sitting.

Night Activities

Night activities are held after dinner each day. The activity is usually kept secret until dinner when someone announces

"Tonight...."

And campers respond by saying in unison,

"Yes, tonight?!"

The night activity is then announced by a member of the Central staff and is usually met with thunderous applause by the campers. Night activities like the Country Fair, Counselor Hunt, Rockmont Dance and the Miss Hollymont Pageant are usually held on a rotating basis and do not take place every session. However, Council Ring, the talent show and a trip to the Rockmont Waterfront occur every session.

Halls

All Hollymont campers stay in Laural Lodge, a three-story dormitory on the Asheville School campus. Each floor or "hall" is dived by age group. Each hall is supervised by a Head Counselor, cluster counselors, CIT's and other Central or Program staff members. Each hall is decorated by the counselors in accordance to a theme. In addition, each hall competes amongst themselves for the "Golden Plunger" a coveted award given to The Cluster with the cleanest rooms.

Tribes

Every Hollymont camper and staff member is a member of one of three distinct tribes. Once a member, you are a member for life. New campers and staff members are called "Pale FACES" and are inducted into a tribe at Counsel Ring, held the second night of each camp session. Each tribe elects a chief, warrior and brave to lead the tribe in activities and competitions. Popular tribal events include Bella Culla, counselor hunt and the scavenger hunt. Points are awarded to the winning tribes and at the end of each session, the tribe with the most points wins a totem pole.
