Camera (band)
Camera are a three-piece alternative rock band formed in Chicago, IL early in 2003 by Justin C. Scro, Ryan Aylward and Joseph Scro.
Biography
Brothers Justin and Joseph Scro teamed with longtime friend Ryan Aylward in the spring of 2001 to start developing MusicAL IDeaS together in their respective hometown of Schaumburg, Illinois. After choosing the name Camera, the band decided to make their efforts official in the summer of 2003 with playing their first ever show.
Shortly after, the group were discovered by former Coctails member Barry Phipps who would go on to produce Camera's first effort, the Self Titled EP for Phipps's Tightship Records.
Gaining press and exposure, Camera returned with their next EP Fire & Science, in 2008 which was released under the AtmoWorks label. Upon review, Jim DeRogatis, music critic for the Chicago Sun Times said Camera "deliver the post-punk art-rock goods: Not only is the trio's version of the Feelies' "Moscow Nights" one of the most impressive I've heard, originals such as "Wicked Wicked Games" and "One Neo Eon" are nearly as strong, doing proud the traditions of an era where it didn't seem unreasonable to pair ultra-danceable grooves with challenging musical ideas and often delightfully menacing sonic ambiance.
Soon after the release of Fire & Science, Camera were contacted by Mudvayne member Matthew McDonough and his production partner, ambient music mainstay Vir Unis. Camera's latest effort, Realpolitik! is currently in production with McDonough and Vir Unis under their collective title of "MikroNaught."
