British-Africans In Government

British-Africans In Government (B.I.G) is a staff network of Africans working in different fields within the British Government.

The network vision is:

"To develop a strong network of British Africans in Government in order to assist the development of Africa"

Aims

The aim of B.I.G is to enhance British-African relationships through the delivery of the following strategic objectives:

  • Support positive policy development in Africa
  • Assist African Governments, African Embassies and the African community in the UK in capacity building, good governance and community development
  • Support and facilitate development programmes for the benefit of B.I.G membership
  • To work with British Government and its institutions and agencies in the delivery of its African agenda
  • To work with relevant UK NGOs to build capacity of the African community in the UK to improve community cohesion, reassurance, and community development
  • To promote a good image of Africa affairs and engage in partnership with bodies advancing coherence, transparency and governable Africa.

The network is recognised by Civil Service and membership is open to all staff working for UK Government.
