Breaksk8
BreakSk8 is an all-male crew of professional dancers on quad rollerskates, established in 2001 and based out of Kokomo, Indiana.
The jam skating group was created by Shannon Anthony in 2001. The members of the group grew up in the skating rinks, and in 2002 started traveling the United States to perform and teach in rinks.
BreakSk8 began performing at high school varsity basketball games in Central Indiana, and began performing for college half-time shows at Ball State University and for the Indiana Pacers.
They became the Indiana Pace Skaters and performed at numerous home games for the 2004 Pacers season. In 2005, they contracted with the NBA to become the "Official Skate Team for the NBA," where BreakSk8 would travel and perform for all 30 NBA teams.
BreakSk8 provided stunt skating for the 2005 motion picture "Roll Bounce" featuring Lil Bow Wow. Before the movie premiere, Fox Searchlight Productions held the "Roll Bounce Skate Off" competition in ten different cities through the United States. Over 100 skate teams competed in the single elimination skate off, and BreakSk8 eliminated several crews and made it to the finals in Chicago.
In November 2007, MTV asked BreakSk8 to participate in "America's Best Dance Crew," which MTV had purchased from NBC and renamed from "World Moves." During the live auditions, BreakSk8 was eliminated by competing group "Femme 5." At the end of the live auditions, BreakSk8 and three other eliminated dance crews were given a chance to compete, and BreakSk8 managed to get the largest cheer out of all three crews. Breaksk8 continued the dominate the competition with week 5 being they're best performance. BreakSk8 was eliminated by Kaba Modern and placed 4th place.
