Braun Mincher
Braun Mincher (born August 19, 1973) is an American entrepreneur and author in the financial literacy industry. He created the Financial Literacy Quiz website and authored The Secrets of Money: A Guide for Everyone on Practical Financial Literacy.
Life and Early Career
Mincher grew up primarily in Littleton, Colorado. The son of a draftsman for a construction company, Mincher saw his father rise through the ranks until his father presided over his own general contracting company, which specialized in building hospitals and apartments. In 1994, Mincher received the "1994 Youth Award Winner Rocky Mountain Region Entrepreneur of the Year" award from Ernst & Young and Inc. Magazine.
He attended Colorado State University and the University of Colorado, but did not graduate.
Seminars and Lectures
Mincher has been interviewed on business and financial issues on the NBC Today Show,, KWGN-TV Channel 2 News, Fox Business Channel, BusinessWeek, and other radio broadcasts. He has contributed to and been cited in nationally-syndicated entrepreneurial publications and magazines such as the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Christian Science Monitor, Woman's Day, and Entrepreneur Magazine. He is ACTIVE in national advocacy movements to make a semester-long financial literacy course a requirement in high school and college curriculum (currently implemented in 3 states, according to the Jump$tart Coalition for Financial Literacy).
Criticism and Controversy
In December 2008, Mincher came into conflict with Colorado State University and the Larimer County Commissioners when he was denied media access to a financial literacy summit. Mincher had been accused of self-promotion and covert advertising of his book and documentary film. He was interviewed by the Fox News Radio KCOL_(AM) KCOL-600 Morning Show AbOUT the controversy. He was eventually granted limited media access by organizers.
