BOSTON8BIT

BOSTON8BIT is a music/arts collective centered in Boston, Massachusetts that focuses on 8-bit, chiptune, and glitch music. The group started out as a website1 created by Chris Mahoney (AKA chiptune artist ACTIVE Knowledge) as a means to spread awareness of the chiptune music scene in Boston and the surrounding area.

Since October of 2009, the group has hosted a concert series in Boston and the surrounding areas entitled "Boston 8-Bit presents: Chiptune", which showcases local, upcoming and veteran musicians from across the country. These concerts exclusively feature artists who use re-purposed gaming systems (especially the Game Boy and the NES) as a means for the creation of electronic music and Video game art.
