Bobby Berryhill

Bobby R. Berryhill holds the office of Coroner in Madison County, Alabama. He served as Assistant Coroner from 1970-1990. In 1990 he was elected as Coroner. He was re-elected in 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2006. The Madison County Coroner's jurisdiction encompasses all of Madison County, including Redstone Arsenal. The Coroner has the authority to certify any death occurring with in the state of Alabama, providing that the offense, occurrence, or incident that ultimately resulted in the death, occurs within the jurisdiction of the Madison County Coroner.

The County Coroner determines the cause and manner in which death has occurred by preforming examinations of the deceased, taking biological samples for forensic evaluation, conducting investigations and having an autopsy to be conducted when necessary. Coroners, in Alabama, are one of the highest law enforcement officials within their respected counties. The Coroner is the only official authorized by law to arrest the SHERIFF of his county.
