Boban Simonovski

Boban Simonovski (Cyrillic: Бобан Симоновски) (born 10 December 1989 in Skopje) is a Macedonian musician.

Biography

Boban Simonovski began performing music at a young age, joining the Children's Choir of the Macedonian Radio Television station at age eight. He was talent-spotted by Aleksandar Jambazov and participated in the 30th anniversary celebrations for the children's music festival Zlatno Slavejce, performing his first song 'Edna Jasna'. The composition won the award for Most Played Song at the festival and as a prize Macedonian Radio Television gave Simonovski the chance to record a video for the song. Two years later, at the 2002 Zlatno Slavejce, Boban performed his second song 'Leonora, Leonorce'.

Simonovski participated in children's festivals throughout Europe, including a festival themed "European Children" in Krakow, Poland, where he won second prize for most outstanding interpretation. As a member of the Choir of the Multiethnic Festival, he and three other singers performed 'Kad Bi Ljudi Bila Djeca' ('Everybody was once a child') in Bosnian. He also won prizes at children's concert competitions in Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Albania, and France, among others, finishing fourth among 2000 competitors at the 2003 Junior Eurosong competition with his song 'Kako Hari Poter'. Boban completed his children's music career with a performance in Athens on the theme 'Children Of Peace' directly before the opening of the 2004 Olympic Games.

Simonovski enrolled at the Ilija Nikolovski-Luj music school, the only solo singer in his class under Zvezda Mircevska. There he met musician Robert Bilbilov, who saw him perform a song by classmate Lambe Alabakovski at a school talent show: the two helped organize a charity Tose Proeski concert in Ohrid, where Simonovski performed alongside Bojan Marovic and musicians from across the Balkans and around the world. Bilbilov then helped Simonovic to release his first single, 'Da Ne Zaspijam'. The track topped the music charts at several local radio stations and was promoted throughout Macedonia, including with the help of composer and producer Jovan Jovanov, Elvir Mekic, and Maja Sazdanovska.

Simonovski has also recorded radio adverts for McDonalds, BiMilk and others.
