BlueCotton.com is an online retailer of custom t-shirt screen printing and embroidery. BlueCotton is located in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Business Model

BlueCotton sells custom t-shirts, outerwear, hats, tote bags and other accessories. Customers can design their own t-shirt using the online Design Studio, a Photoshop-like web application, which also enables them to upload their own graphics or photos. The Design Studio is available for both embroidery embellishment as well as screen printing. BlueCotton also maintains a physical storefront in Bowling Green, KY and assists local and regional walk-in customers with design IDeaS and order placement. BlueCotton provides name brand apparel such as Nike, Adidas, Carharrt, The North Face, Columbia, American Apparel, Dickies, Champion, Izod, among others. Eco-friendly apparel including recycled materials and sustainable fabrics such as bamboo are also available for customization.

History

Mike Coffey and Warren Guyer, college roommates who worked out of their apartment selling t-shirts to Greek organizations on the Western Kentucky University's campus, founded BlueCotton in 1991.

In 2003, BlueCotton went live on the Internet. On June 25, 2007 the website launched the Design Studio which uses Adobe Flash technology to create the Photoshop-like web application. This web application gives customers the ability to create their own custom t-shirt and apparel designs for screen printing and embroidery.

In 2009, BlueCotton will release a new version of the Design Studio at BlueCottonTees.com. The new version of the Design Studio will feature a step-by-step design process, giving the user more direction than the original Design Studio.

BlueCotton Design Studio

The BlueCotton Design Studio is an Adobe Flash powered web application developed by Hitcents. This application enables customers to create and PREview their own shirt designs by choosing a shirt style and color, adding and manipulating text, clip art, shapes, and effects, or upload their own images. T-shirts can also be personalized with their own individual names and/or numbers.

July 16, 2007 - BlueCotton was recognized by Adobe as Site of the Day
Inc. Magazine ranked BlueCotton No. 3,988 in its annual list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the country.
